STENDRA (avanafil) is a medication prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
Patients with ED have trouble maintaining or achieving an erection. STENDRA works by enhancing the effects of the chemical signals that are released during sexual arousal. It causes the muscle of blood vessels of the penis to relax, which causes blood to become trapped and produces an erection.

Directions
The starting dose of STENDRA pills is 100 mg taken by mouth approximately 30 minutes before sexual activity. STENDRA should not be taken more than once daily. The dose may be adjusted from 50-200 mg per dose based on effectiveness and side effects.
The starting dose of STENDRA is 50 mg if taking drugs that interact including CYP3A4 inhibitors or alpha-blockers (see below).

Interactions
STENDRA has potential drug-drug interactions with the following classes of medications:
- Alcohol
- Alpha-blockers: doxazosin, prazosin, terazosin
- Antihypertensive medications
- Moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors: Erythromycin
- Nitrates: nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, and food-based sources of nitrates including cured meats
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors: ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, nefazodone, ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir, indinavir, atazanavir, telithromycin
Cautions
Before starting STENDRA, conditions that would make sexual activity inadvisable should be ruled out, like heart problems.
Seek medical attention if you experience priapism, which is an erection lasting longer than four hours. Priapism is a medical emergency.
Stop taking STENDRA and tell your doctor immediately if you experience any change or loss of vision.

The most common side effects of STENDRA include:
- Back pain
- Flushing
- Headache
- Low blood pressure
- Nasal congestion
- Nasopharyngitis
